(十)被呼唤语或插入语分割。例如:“That was stupid, Duke - very stupid.” “那是很愚蠢的,公爵——太愚蠢了。”/ “Sir Harry sends word, my lady, that he and the gentlemen are waiting for supper.” “哈里爵爷说,夫人,他同各位先生都等着开晚餐呢。”/ The urgent work was completed in less than one day, to be more exact, six hours. 这件紧急工作在不到一天的时间里,更确切些说,只花了六个小时就完成了。
　　(十一)被多种成分分割。例如:“The king has a new favourite, I hear, though I have not seen her - some actress or other.”“听说国王又有了个宠妃——是女戏子什么的,不过我还没有见过。”(被插入语和让步状语从句分割)/ Emma felt that something important was coming - something which she was not sure that she wished to hear. 爱玛觉得要发生什么重要的事情了,她拿不准,这是不是她希望听到的。(被定语和插入语分割)/ In the reference section books are kept which may not be eaten away from the library, such as encyclopedias and dictionaries. 在参考书部,像百科全书、字典之类的藏书不准带出图书馆外。(被谓语、定语从句和同位语指示词分割)
　　(十二)外位同位语与本位语的分割。有时,作同位语的词或短语,并不是与它所说明的词并置,而是单独位于句子之外,而在句子中用一个代词来替代。例如:There he sat, a giant among dwarfs. 他坐在那里,真是鸡群之鹤。/ Your friend John, I saw him here last night. 你的朋友约翰,我昨天夜里在这里见过他。/ That’s a shame - to let your friend down. 拆你朋友的台,那真可耻。/ They are all the same, these politicians. 这些政客们,他们都是一路货色。
